I never thought of myself as an impatient person. But growing older, I realized waiting is not my cup of tea, especially if it is waiting and sitting still… But when you hope for an engineless ship to take their leave, you have to be patient. 

As I have been sailing Tres Hombres before, I think I understand the reasons behind a delayed departure ; tall ships are as strong as delicate to care for and the autumnal refit is always full of surprises. Moreover, without an engine, grand master Wind is deciding on the schedule, and it is a capricious boss. All elements mixed up explain the time I’ve been waiting to jump on board. But what is a few weeks of wandering before a five month sea-trip? 

Nowadays we have become used to having everything at the minute : information, packages and emails, heat, food… But when you sail on Tres Hombres, you have to get into the school of patience. Everything can change in an instant, all your plans wiped by a wind shift, we had a taste of it during our stay in Douarnenez. Mate Jess said ‘’the Plan is no plan’’ and I will try to keep this one as a wisdom. Don’t expect a thing to happen in the time or in the way you planned, life and winds are always surprising. As for patience, well I will learn!
