GENERAL SYNOPSIS: ON BOARD THE TRES HOMBRES
Greetings from the moon:
Wind. A lot of it.
The North Atlantic ocean in October, is a windy affair. Right now, as i am writing this, the sun is about to set, golden, making the clouds bright orange. We are headed south. I can feel it already i think, the heat, although it could be just my imagination.
We have been 5 days at sea, since Douarnenez, had a bit of rough weather, but now the sky is as clear as the first night watch after France. During that watch i saw something i did not expect to ever see. I have never heard of such a phenomenon before.
A greeting from the moon, welcoming us back to sea. A rainbow, during the full moon. It was a very light night watch, the moon was keeping the dark at bay, and the rainbow, a half circle on the horizon, the full moon in the middle, and the ship, all sails set, heading away from it. I wish I could have taken a picture from 50 meters in front of the ship. It was a pale rainbow, the colors more dusty and silvery, but still recognizable. and the ship sailing in a sea full of stars, the algae, lighting up the ropes if they fall into the water, and it feels as if you are holding the belt of Orion.
We have had dolphins joining us a few times on this voyage, swimming alongside the ship, keeping her company in the water, and someone heard a whale once during one of the night watches. All of these creatures, all of these natural phenomenon, the moonlight rainbow, the algae lighting up the entire ocean, the blood moon a few months ago, i never expected to experience such… Miracles I would call them, although you might disagree with that word, since it can all be explained. The thing is though, I don´t need an explanation. I don´t want one. I just want to continue on this tall ship adventure, that we are all part of, I don´t want the miracles to stop and they are miracles. An explanation doesn´t take away the miracle of it. Only a little bit of the mystery, which is a shame to.
My hands are rough, and I want them to get rougher. I climb the mast, even though heights makes me fearfull, I am brave, but I want to be braver. I pull the ropes, I feel my muscles tense up, I want to get stronger. My hair is one big knotted mess and I don´t give a f**ck. I want to feel the change, even more so than now. It is the adventure in the blood of everyone on board, you can see it in their eyes, it is what binds us together, the one thing every single one of us have in common. Otherwise we would not be here. Sometimes it brings us closer together. Other times it makes us clash. But we do that together to. That is the point of it.
Everything is together. and I find that to be both the most beautiful part of sailing, and also the hardest part of it and i suppose that is why i love being here so much.
They are making jokes on the deck right now as I am writing in the navigation room. they are rapping. We are almost at the watch change, you can tell people are getting overtired, by the quality of their jokes. I will go join them with the worst of mine.
Greetings from Victoria

After a harsh start through, more than over, the big swells, coming into the bay of Les Sables, we left the friendly town and tug behind us and got underway up the Biskay. High, higha, Biskaya…true it was and many a stomach did not appreciate the food coming from our friends from the fertile land. […]
