GENERAL SYNOPSIS: ON BOARD THE TRES HOMBRES
We finally left Santa Cruz te La Palma and well with a little help of some friends with a dingy and our own dingy we set our sail in the harbour and caught the wind just outside the entrance. Our delay was due to the lack of wind of the last days. We used the spare time to buy more food and possible things we might need along the way. The ship is well stocked up with delicious fruits and vegetables from this beautiful Island La Palma. Some of us has seen and went around the island with bus or car. It is all green and with mountain and winding roads. On the highest point 2500 is an are different space observatories. The stars are very near in the night I can tell. The West coast coast of the Island is one of the most sunniest places of the island. Here and there are black beaches. The local food is so lekker fresh and all over the island you see people grow there own food. They even produce there own beer of organic ingredients. It was a little heaven for us being here. The Tres Hombres has been here since 2010 when we were on our way to Haïti with humanitarian aid. And now since 3 years we take organic rum from the Island around the Atlantic and becomes our own Tres Hombres La Palma Rum 15 years old.
Now we are back at sea again clipping along 10 knots. Saturday is cleaning day! The whole ship is turned up side down and get a sweep and wipe down. Tomorrow we celebrate Sunday and have time to relax and read a book or paint and make a cake. I might open a bottle of rum if the sun is below the yardarms.
So here we are, back in Amsterdam, with an empty cargo hold, preparing for the next trip. Six months have passed since we first left Den Helder on that grey November day. I still remember the steady sound of the tugboat, like a frantic clock rushing us. Soon the time would not matter that much, […]
You’re not the only one with mixed emotions, you’re not the only ship adrift in the ocean. I remember this was the Rolling Stones song we listened to on the first crossing I did with Tres Hombres seven years ago. And I’m listening to it again now. Fighting our way to the Channel entrance. The […]
