Tres Hombres Rum Ed. 38

Aging since 2001 in the Aldea Distillery on La Palma prepared this Tres Hombres Rum for its sailing voyage of almost 10,000 miles over the Atlantic ocean.

One cask of Sherry Oloroso and one of Port wine took this Vintage rum on a 7 month Atlantic tour, infusing the Tres Hombres spirit into this fabulous distillate. Salud!

The sugar cane is grown on Aldea's own fields and raised without the addition of fertilizers or pesticides. After the distillation, the rum matured for 18 years in ex-Bourbon barrels and was also given a kind of second aging in the Tres Hombres cargo hold for another 7 months.

Since the ship is constantly in motion, contact with the wood is intensified again. The Sherry Oloroso and the Port barrels infused their spirit during the time on board for a memorable finish.

Tasting note:

The rum colors to gold when poured into your glass. You will experience the smell of licorice, honey, flowers, and caramel. Quite strong and proud of course.
Quite a complex experience, not only when tasting it, but also for the nose.

Design:

Each bottle is lavishly decorated with motifs from the Tres Hombres and their travels. The design is made by Lynx Guimond who, not only made the famous figurehead on Tres Hombres, but also made this masterpiece of woodcarving right above the steering wheel. Closed with a natural cork and sealed with beeswax. Each variety has its own color. To achieve this, the wax is mixed with color pigments that are ground from natural raw materials in a traditional windmill in Zaandam.
