Description
Nordlys sailed back home 3 beautiful Portuguese DOC red wines named "Westerlies"
Fairtransport collaborated with the Portuguese winery Quinta do Romeu to develop a special Nordlys edition named Westerlies. The venerable ship Nordlys is just one year older that the family estate of Quinta Do Romeu (est. 1874).
Westerlies are the prevailing winds that blow in from the west through the north of the Atlantic Ocean, which will push the sails of the World's oldest cargo ship Nordlys (est. 1873) from Porto to Den Helder.
The organic wine has a DOC rating, the highest classification for Portuguese wines. This mono-varential red wine is made of the Portuguese grape Souzão of 2014, which is known for its intense color.
This grape is authorized to be planted in the Douro region, situated in the central north of Portugal.
Tasting notes include flavors such as wild black currant, licorice and spices.
This wine pairs best with herb-roasted chicken skewers or spicy stew with chickpeas and spinach. May the breeze be gentle and the wine be inspiring!
