WIND DIR:est north est
WIND SPD:10 knots
Extra sails for smooth trade winds by officer on watch Francois Mangin Deville
The good schooner brig “Tres Hombres” is now at sea again, she is brigantine rigged.
That means we are wearing a “gaff main sail”, a “gaff top sail”, a “main stay sail”, a “main topmast staysail” and a “main topmast upper staysail” on the main mast , the aft one. On the foremast, there is the “fore staysail” , “inner jib” and “outer jib” rigged on the bow sprit and jib boom the squares sails on the foremast are the “course” ,”topsail”, “top gallant” and “royal”. As trainees you will have few days to learn the hundred lines who go with those sails.. ;)
Those sails manned by the trainees and crew will bring to You some delicious Cacao beans, one of the best rum of the world and many other goods
from the other side of the Atlantic Ocean. All this without using fossil energy , just some wind.
And today, not so much wind blowing here.
But “Tres Hombres” is full of surprises, then for Christmas we had extra sails as the stuns sails.
One below the main boom and 3 others to make the squares sails larger. And many lines to set them.
We work all day to wear as much canvas as possible and keep the average speed at maximum.
Don´t worry, the rum will be on time in Amsterdam.
